On this page, we explain how the Snailbucket website works. If anything remains unclear, contact us.
Snailbucket shares many features with online chess leagues like Teamleague. Simply
The most important page is the overview page for an ongoing tournament, e.g. Monthly 2. You can access it from the menu on top of the website. On the overview page, you will find links to the pairings, standings, the Tourney guide etc.
The most important document is the Tourney guide, e.g. the SB Monthly 2 Tourney guide. It contains the rules of the tournament, and you should be familiar with them before you sign up to a tourney.
The pairings page shows who is your opponent in a round. Next to your name, there's a link to your game forum. The game forum is a chat window where you and your opponent negotiate a day and time to start your game. You will always know if there is something to attend to, because game forum messages are instantly forwarded to your email address. Once you and your opponent have agreed on a time that is convenient for both of you, one of you can set the clock in the game forum. Show up on FICS at the time that was agreed, and play your game.
Two distinct SB features are important: Generally Bad Times and Time Control Preferences. Please check these two help articles so that you can complete your profile when you create your account, which you can do any time. Signing up to a tournament is possible during an allotted period of time; you will find the link in the Tourney guide.
