Joining

Once you know how Snailbucket works, it's time to join. The Snailbucket and FICS memberships are free.

Requirements

• Create an FICS account, unless you have one already.
• Play at least five rated standard games on FICS, so that we can give you a rating.
• Be in good standing with FICS (e.g. you must not be on the abuser list).
• If you're a Teamleague player: Have a good TL record (e.g. no excess of forfeited games).

Creating your Snailbucket account

• Send pchesso an FICS message to join; include your email address (needed throughout the tourney).
• Clear some old FICS messages, and "set mailmess 1".
• We'll email and/or message you ASAP the link to create your Profile page.
• Fill out your profile, sharing your game control preferences etc.; then click "submit".
• A confirmation email will be sent to you; click the confirmation link in this email.
• Check your spam folder, if an email hasn't arrived.

Joining a Tournament

• Is there an upcoming tournament? Study its format on the Regulations page.
• Are you ready to commit? Log in, sign up!
• Your zero rating will be (re)set with the next batch.
• You'll be added to the confirmed players page ASAP.

Troubleshooting

• Your FICS username and SB username must be identical.
• Javascript must be enabled to edit your profile settings.
